Up-Cycled Sweaters

My Up-Cycled Sweaters are created from cast-offs that collected from all over the western United States.

The Searching

I start out by digging, sifting & trolling through literally mountains of discarded clothing. I gather from the garages of my friends, relations, acquaintances... just about anyone who will let me. The items that stand out to me are the ones that have history (mostly my history imposed upon them). Nothing inspires me more than a 70s psychedelic polyester print, stripes from the Brady Bunch era, or a crimson red & black pattern from the 80s. Ohhh Ahhh!

The Choosing

I pick and stack and reshuffle over and over and OVER again until I get the color combinations "just right".

The Washing

Everything is painstakingly cleaned! Hours turn into days as I prep all the garments to meet the extreme clean challenge.

The Stitching

The slice, dice, stich and finish are all determined by the feel, drape (wiggle) and personality of each garment. Once they get to the cutting table it is a matter of moments 'til they are reincarnated.

Viola! Something fun-tabulous is born!
