The Process
I prefer to sketch with graphite on a thick velum. Once the designs are good, I ink them in with a fine tip sharpie. From there, they are transfrred, by hand, onto special paper provided by the melmac plate manufacturer. Then the color is added.
The challenge is that only certin types of 'markers' are approved for the melmac transfer process, so the colors and application is very limited.
The first two designs, The Right Tool For The Job" and "The Cleaner", were my first attempts at melmac plate reporduction. I plan to continue with more designs as time and creativity allows.
