The Flutterbug is a '67 VW Beatle and my daily driver. This is its 5th "look". The Flutterbug has fully functional animatronic wings that can be operated by a small exterior button and illuminates magically at night.
I start with a sketch, then painting studies... then re-produce on the car in oil paint.
Here are the Fantasy Flowers on car - ready for detail.

- I painted the Flutterbug with "One Shot" oil-based sign paint.
- I did not top coat it. I should, but I take advantage of the road wear off as a natural pre-sanding for my frequent repainting.
- I do usually sand it all the way down to the metal for repainting. I like to use a high grade rattle can automotive primer.
- I drive him everyday. He is a licenced and insured daily driver.
- And, yes, he is a he.
